Empties #2: Products I’ve finished

I finally have a second empties post to share! It’s been three months since my last one, can you believe it? FYI, you can read the first one here.

Anyway, without getting into a black hole of rambling…here are 10 things I finished up/will be getting rid of because it’s probably way past its expiration date. Oh, I may have also gone too far with the GIFs. But, I’ll let you be the judge of that. Now let’s get into it.

(Affiliate links below)

1. L. organic pads

Pros
Comfortable (it’s made with hypoallergenic organic cotton), affordable ($6.99 for 36 pads), and provides pads to girls in developing countries through their 1:1 program. I’ve also written a full review on them here.
Cons
Can’t think of one but if you prefer tampons, they have them here too.
Will I repurchase?
Yes, this is my third bag and I already have my fourth in my closet.

2. Love Beauty & Planet body wash in coconut water & mimosa flower

Pros
Affordable at $6.99 for 16 oz, made with plant based cleansers, is cruelty free, does not contain sulfates (they strip the skin of moisture), and it smells so good.
Cons
If I’m nitpicking, the bottle isn’t the best design. I often end up squeezing out too much of the body wash or have trouble getting it out. The bottle is made of recycled plastic but it could be a smidge more malleable.
Will I repurchase?
Yes, I’m already using my second bottle of this.

3. Giovanni 50:50 balanced shampoo

Pros
Cruelty free, made with 100% vegetarian ingredients, doesn’t contains sulfates or parabens, and it gets the job done without making my hair or scalp feel dry. *didn’t pack conditioner for my Italy trip to save space in my carry-on liquids pouch, and my hair wasn’t dry at all after using just this shampoo.
Cons
It doesn’t seem to balance out the oils on my scalp. It doesn’t promise that, but it does claim to leave hair “perfectly pH balanced”. Which sounds great, but I’m not sure it’s doing that. Vadim seems to love it though.
Will I repurchase?
I’m already on my third of fourth bottle of this. I will continue to use this until I find a better option. Shampoos are so tricky to find especially when you want one that doesn’t strip away your hair with sulfates.

4. Make P:rem Blue ray sun gel SPF 50+

Pros
Hydrating, doesn’t leave a white cast or any residue, does what it claims to do, and lasts for months (I used it all summer and winter).
Cons
Leaves skin feeling slightly tacky so if you’re not into that feeling, this might not be the sunscreen for you. The pump also makes it hard to get everything out. Honestly, I wish all my skincare products came in a jar, so I could use everything up and recycle it afterwards.
Will I repurchase?
Maybe. I would definitely like to try out some more brands before I commit to this one. If you want one that will protect your skin all summer and be hydrating enough to use as moisturizer, this is a really good option.

5. Glossier solution – “exfoliating skin perfector” aka toner

Pros
Skin feels soft immediately after use and the pump dispenser makes it really easy to get the product out.
Cons
In terms of long term effects, this didn’t do much. My skin still had the same dark spots, uneven texture, and my breakouts were still the same.
Will I repurchase?
No, I think the Ordinary’s glycolic toner does a great job at a fraction of the cost. I use it to get rid of the clogged pores around my hair line. I definitely noticed a difference after just one use.

6. Maybelline the falsies pushup angel mascara in waterproof

Pros
Eyelashes were still curled, waterproof formula is indeed waterproof, and it gives volume without making lashes clumpy.
Cons
I have no idea what’s in this mascara since the ingredients aren’t listed but that’s the case with all drugstore brand mascaras. It does smudge if you don’t use a powder underneath the eye area. And, you need to use an oil cleanser to remove it since it is waterproof. So there’s a lot of fuss required for a product that kind of works.
Will I repurchase?
Maybe. I like that it holds a curl (my lashes are stick straight) but I don’t like that the formula is not cruelty free and probably contains ingredients I shouldn’t be putting so close to my eye.

7. W3ll People mascara in black

Pros
It’s a clean beauty product (you can even view all the ingredients!). My lashes feel soft, there’s no clumping, and no smudging.
Cons
It doesn’t hold a curl without having to curl my lashes again after mascara is on. That’s con enough for me. If your lashes are naturally curly then this is a very nice, clean formula that makes lashes noticeable (in a good way). It also costs more than your typical drugstore mascara at $22.
Will I repurchase?
No. I’m still on the hunt for the perfect mascara.

8. Glossier boy brow in black

Pros
I could probably write an academic paper on how life changing this product has been for me. But I’ll keep it short and sweet. It emphasizes all the brow hairs you didn’t even know you had. It’s easy to use, it gives a natural tint to the brows (I don’t use powders or pencils anymore), and it stays on all day.
Cons
None.
Will I repurchase?
Yes, I’m already on my 6th one.

9. The Ordinary salicylic acid 2% solution

Pros
Super affordable ($5.30), great spot treatment, and easy to use.
Cons
It’s almost always sold out. It’s currently in stock on The Ordinary. And, the founder of the company has caused quite a bit of controversy and confusion. So who knows if this product or this brand will be around in the long run.
Will I repurchase?
I have four backups because Vadim likes it so much and wanted to make sure we got free shipping. And, it was sold out for a while so he went ahead and got us enough for a lifetime. If it does run out, I’ll probably repurchase.

10. Glossier perfecting skin tint in dark

Pros
Blends really nicely into skin, feels more like a liquidy moisturizer that also enhances your skin, it lasts forever, and stays put all day. It’s the only cover up product I don’t mind using because it’s so easy to use and looks incredibly natural. So much so that you can’t even see it on the skin.
Cons
It won’t conceal blemishes or dark spots 100%, but I don’t mind that. For spots that need extra coverage, I just use a concealer on top (I like this Maybelline fit me one).
Will I repurchase?
Yes, I recently purchased my second bottle.

That’s everything!

Do you like finishing up skincare products? What products have you finished lately and would repurchase? Did I go overboard with the GIFs?
