My experience with shoes
For some reason, shoes have always been more of an afterthought for me. Every season I have a go-to pair of flats or sneakers that I wear nonstop until they literally give up on me. This works perfectly for about 90% of my life. But then, I’ll be hit with moments where I will need to dress up, i.e. fancy life events including my own wedding last year.
I scrambled to find the best pair of heels that would work and ended up buying and wearing a pair that didn’t last. Long story short, during our wedding day photo session, one of the heels caught on to a metal grate and removed part of the leather. And they weren’t even cheap shoes! Needless to say, they are no longer with me.
Finding the “perfect” party shoe
A few weeks ago, I started my search again for the “perfect” pair of party heels. I was looking for something simple, in a neutral shade, not too tall, and reasonably priced without losing out on quality. So after doing a bit of research, I found “The Pilone” by M.Gemi.
(My cat, Esteban making a guest appearance here)
It’s exactly what I was looking for:
Simple design: there’s a single strap across the toes.
Neutral Shade: the “sand” color will go with everything.
Supportive Heel: it has a 3.5 inch block heel that gives me the perfect amount of height and support.
Reasonably priced: Considering that they are made in Italy and by hand, they are reasonably priced at $278 (you do get $40 off your first pair). Because of how classic and versatile they are, I will be able to rely on them season after season without having to purchase another pair (especially since I’ll only need them for those rare, fancy occasions). FYI…this is the only pair of spring/summer heels that I own.
-Their size chart and fit recommendation were both spot on. I’m usually a 7.5 US, which converts to 37.5 in Italian sizing. But since they recommended half a size up, I went with a 38.
-Aside from the fit recommendation, M.Gemi’s website also gives you “walkability” information to let you know how comfortable these shoes will be to walk in, and for how long. They suggest that these will be comfortable for “a few (stunning) hours,” which is exactly what I’m looking for. I love that they are honest and provide all the information necessary for making an informed purchase.
–Impeccable customer service: There’s the option to text, call, or chat with a real person who is available to answer questions and concerns.
–Attention to detail: I was so impressed by the packaging. The interior of the shoe box is personalized with your name, you get an envelope that holds your order information and the business card of the person you can reach for customer service, and last but not least, it comes with a dust bag for safe storage.
I am so excited to whip these out for my sister-in-law’s wedding next month and even more excited that I now have a reliable party shoe. No more scrambling and impulse shoe purchases.
Thanks for sticking with me till the end of this post. I hope this was helpful in some way. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a comment.
See you in my next post!
