Nighttime skincare routine

minimal makeup

(That feeling when it’s so hot that you can’t wait to run home and wash your face)

I am so proud of my current nighttime skincare routine. All of the products I use are relatively affordable, do what they claim to do, and most of them contain no harmful ingredients. I do eventually want to transition into using only cruelty-free and natural skincare products, so feel free to leave me your recommendations.

For now, let me introduce you to my nighttime skincare squad.

Step 1: Double Cleanse

L-R: I’ve been using this DHC Deep Cleansing Oil ($28) on and off for years. Each time I go off and try something new, I’m reminded of why this product is such a gem. Massaging this in at the end of a long day feels therapeutic and it’s the best at removing waterproof mascara. // After I rinse off the oil, I use the same Derma E Purifying Gel Cleanser (~$12) mentioned in my daytime skincare routine as my final cleanse. Afterwards, my skin feels clean (not dry) and ready to drink in the good stuff that keeps it happy and balanced.

Step 2: Treat

These are the three most affordable and effective products in my entire skincare kit (all from The Ordinary). Over a month ago, my chin was suffering from terrible breakouts that wouldn’t go away. These three products had the most positive impact on my skin after only a week’s use. Read about my first impression thoughts here.  L-R: Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution ($8.70) is perfect for gently exfoliating and balancing the skin post-cleanse. This creates a smooth canvas for absorbing in treatments. // Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% ($5.90) mellows out redness and irritation relatively quickly. It also brings the bounce back into your skin post-cleanse. // Salicylic Acid 2% Solution ($4.90) is the most effective at nipping breakouts at the bud. My husband asks for this stuff because even he’s noticed how potent this solution is. I already need to repurchase but at $4.90 a bottle, there are no regrets!

Step 3: Hydrate

The final four from left to right: No7 Men Energizing Eye Roll-On ($17) feels good under the eyes. My husband and I share this and we like to keep it in the fridge. I should probably be using something more hydrating but at the moment I’m happy with this. // Whamisa Organic Flowers Toner ($40) is deeply hydrating. A little goes a long way. This bottle will probably last me till winter. I love this stuff. *Edit on July 20, 2017: Now that it’s summer, I apply a few layers of the toner until I feel hydrated enough and skip moisturizer*// Make P:rem Safe Relief Cream ($36) is the best moisturizer I’ve ever used. A little bit goes a long way and it feels so soothing on the skin. This tub will also last me till winter. // Last but not least, Glossier rose balm dotcom ($12) for my lips. It moisturizes, feels light, and smells good.

That’s everything! It may seem like a lot but I think every product plays a crucial role in my skin’s sanity and health. Hopefully this was helpful and inspired you to try something new.

Thanks for stopping by!

See you in my next post 🙂
