Bare Minimum Coverage
Yesterday I decided to finally pick up a concealer to cover up the redness on my chin. I haven’t had much luck with concealers in the past, but after seeing that my Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint wasn’t providing the coverage that I wanted, I stopped by Rite Aid and picked up the Maybelline Fit Me concealer in 25 Medium ($4.89 at Target!). There are 6 shades in the range, not ideal if you’re in between but I guess you could buy two shades and mix them. Might have to get a darker shade to mix with the Medium once I come back from my Spain trip.
Mini Concealer Review
I am really impressed by the spot on color match, the coverage, and how easy it was to blend into the skin. It also didn’t cost an arm and a leg, which is a major plus.
How I cover up my spots
1. I apply the Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint in areas where I need to even out my skin tone…my forehead, underneath my eyes, and my chin. It works as a really easy base.
2. After the Perfecting Skin Tint is dry, I apply the Maybelline Fit Me concealer on the back of my hand first (for sanitary purposes since the applicator goes back into the tube of concealer). Then I take my ring finger and take a little bit of concealer at a time and gently pat it on to the spots that need coverage. I do this in thin layers so that it blends in easily and doesn’t cake up.
Photographic evidence (Before + After)
In the “After” shots I have on Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Pink Blossom. It’s easy, looks like the best possible version of my natural lip color, and also makes them look hydrated. Only downside: doesn’t have SPF.
I’ll be using this combo for the days when I need more coverage. I imagine I will also need to powder the area during the humid, summer months. Can’t wait!
P.S. I’m still on the hunt for a more natural concealer. Recommendations are greatly appreciated.
Mini life update: If you follow me on Instagram then you know that it was my birthday on Saturday and I celebrated with brunch, Thai takeout, and Dough doughnuts. I also got a pair of hoop earrings for the first time ever! I will have to talk about them in another post. Anyway, despite the rainy weather, it was a perfectly chill way of celebrating life.
Skin update: Skin is still healing and whiteheads are slowly coming to the surface. I have fewer bumps now than I did when I posted this, but there are still some stubborn ones hanging around. Overall, looking and feeling much better. Once they’re fully gone, I will dedicate another post to what helped.
Thanks for stopping by!
