I’ve always written off cash back sites as not for me.
It’s too much work and it’ll take me forever to make more than just spare change.
Those were the excuses I would tell myself.
But the reason that really kept me way? Cash back sites just didn’t carry the brands I shop often.
Well, that changed when I learned about Jewel (referral link for your first $5) back in September.
I read Luxe’s post and signed up right away. And it has seriously paid off. I received my first pay out of $164.25 back in April and currently have $120 confirmed for June. So yeah, there’s some serious cash to be made.
So if you want to get in on this too, read on to learn more about Jewel, what convinced me to start using it, how to sign up and shop, and finally, my top Memorial Day sale picks to get you started on those double savings.
What is Jewel and how is it different
Jewel is a cash back retail site where you can shop your favorite luxury, designer, and even smaller, up and coming brands. I’m talking fashion, beauty, accessories, lifestyle, and travel brands. I realized it was different when I saw Glossier, Everlane, and Net-A-Porter all on the same site. Since I signed up, their cash back rates have gotten better and they’ve even added sustainable brands like Naadam for super soft cashmere sweaters (review here) and Rothy’s for cute and comfy shoes made out of recycled water bottles (review here).
Jewel has completely changed my online shopping game. Before I buy anything online, I always check to see if I can earn cash back on Jewel.
I used to just picture the money flying away emoji 💸 💸💸 every time I’m about to buy something online. Now, some of that money is flying back to me.
How to get started with Jewel
By now you probably want me to stop rambling and start talking about how you can get started. First, don’t miss out on your first $5 reward by using my referral code here.
Once you’ve signed up, peruse through the site and look for your favorite brands.
Hot Tip #1: Make sure to heart your favorite brands when you find them, so you can save them to your favorites. This makes it easier to get to your favorite brands on Jewel. (See how-to below).
- Search for the brand and click on it once you find it.
2. Click the heart on the upper right corner. It will turn red and that means it’s now stored as one of your favorites.
3. Find your favorite brands easily by clicking on the “Favorites” tab. Et voilà.
Hot Tip #2: Better yet, pin the Jewel site to your browser toolbar for a visual reminder to go there first. This way, you don’t accidentally check out without using Jewel, which will mean no cash back.
Beware of the sale/promo code fog: Initially, I found myself more likely to forget to use Jewel when I was using a promo code or if there was a sale going on. In my mind, I was already saving so Jewel didn’t come to mind as quickly. And every single time that happened, I would mentally kick myself for not using Jewel. I mean, a discount and cash back? That is the sweetest deal of all deals.
Shopping with Jewel
I have to admit, I am really lazy when it comes to finding the best deals so I can save the most money when shopping. Jewel has completely changed that for me because it is just so easy to use. And, now that I’m on my way to my second payout of over $100, I know the 30 seconds of extra work each time is worth it. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can start earning some cash back too:
Step 1: Sign in and find the brand you’re looking to shop
Step 2: Once you find the brand you’re looking for, click on it and you’ll be taken directly to the brand’s site
Below is an example of what you will see right before you land on the site:
Step 3: Check out as normal
Step 4: Look out for an email from Jewel congratulating you on your cash back
This email will arrive in your inbox a few hours after you’ve checked out.
Step 5: Keep track of your cash back earnings
This is what you will see after you sign in and click on the “My Account” tab. You can see your pending orders, cancelled aka returned orders, and paid orders which means they have been confirmed.
On the side, you will see your pending and confirmed cash, as well as, your next scheduled payout date.
When and how will I get paid? Your earnings will be paid out via check or PayPal every 72 days that you qualify. I prefer to use PayPal because there’s less wait time and #savetrees. To qualify, you have to have earned at least $15 in your account. That won’t take long. Unless you’re not shopping at all.
Step 6: Lather, rinse, and repeat.
But really, use Jewel because it’s silly to not be earning cash back. Especially, if you anticipate some big spending. Like new work clothes, decorating your new apartment, or every time you find yourself with a little extra cash to spend on something nice for yourself. Every little bit adds up and before you know it, you’ll find yourself with some money flying back to you 💸💸💸.
