Goodbye dry, winter lips

It’s officially spring which means I’m ready to shed my winter layers. I definitely won’t be putting my sweaters away anytime soon BUT I do plan on staying goodbye to my dry, winter lips.

In my disappointing beauty products post, I wrote about how I planned to give up on lip scrubs and try something different.  Well, enter something different: the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask.

I honestly didn’t know what to expect. I’ve never used anything like it but since face masks hydrate the skin, it makes sense that a lip mask would do the same. But more importantly, would it get rid of the flakiness? That would be the true test.

After almost two weeks of giving it a go, I have to give it 👍🏼👍🏼.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask (mini review)

How I use it: I use the handy applicator it comes with and apply the mask on my lips before bed.
What I like: It feels like regular lip balm with minimal stickiness, it has a light berry smell (reminiscent of old school Lip Smacker’s), I wake up with hydrated lips, and any remaining dry flakes are easy to remove with a tissue or warm water. Having used this for almost two weeks, I can definitely say that my dry flakes are now handled. Also, a little goes a long way which means this jar will last a while 👌🏼.
What I don’t like: Nothing. Where has this been all my life?

Smooth like butter

Now that dry lips are a thing of my past, I can focus on making them look more life-like with some color.

My natural lip color is pretty pale so I was on the hunt for something I could apply on the go without having to consult a mirror. I did some perusing on Sephora’s site and found the Tata Harper Volumizing Lip & Cheek Tint in Very Popular. I love a dual purpose product so I was definitely curious about this one. Here’s what I think about it so far.

What I like: It feels so light yet moisturizing on my lips. Dare I say, the best tinted lip product I’ve ever used? Yup, I’m going to put it out there. The color payoff is incredible. It looks so natural and it makes my lips look less like a corpse’s. It’s a no-fuss, everyday lip color that is so, so pretty. The color lasts pretty well after eating and drinking. It does fade into a stain after a few hours which looks just as nice. And, a little goes a long way so I probably won’t have to be replacing this anytime soon. I will definitely be traveling with this.
What I don’t like: At $36, the price is quite steep. I guess you really do pay a premium for natural products that work. Since there’s quite a lot of product in the jar and it’s a 2-in-1 product, the price is (sort of) justified in my mind. I wouldn’t mind if it was half the price though. For now, I’ll deal.

So pigmented
And so easy to use

Goodbye dry, winter lips

Looks like proof is in the pudding. Goodbye annoying flakes. Hello, moisturized lips. I am so glad I don’t ever have to waste my time or money with another crappy lip scrub. Lip masks are clearly the way to go. And apparently, lip tints are too. Finding this all natural one that works like a charm is definitely the cherry on top.
