Weekend style: 90’s dad, a repeat outfit, and something festive

This weekend was quite eventful.

Early on Saturday: We visited my parents and did our weekly food shopping. I took the opportunity to try out the 90’s dad look in places I assumed would be low-stakes and judgment free i.e. my parents’ house and Trader Joe’s. Maybe you’ve taken notice but in case you haven’t, the dad sneaker is apparently making a strong, high fashion comeback.

Anyway, I remember my dad wearing classic blue denim with bulky sneakers in the 90’s, so I translated that memory into my look. Since I don’t own any white sneakers, I improvised with my APL sneakers. I usually wear these with leggings for my workouts so it was definitely different to see them paired with jeans. I wore my favorite Agolde jeans and topped off the look with a cropped gray sweatshirt (similar from Topshop for $30) for an off-duty vibe.

My mom wasn’t impressed with my homage to the 90’s dad look though. She insisted that I buy nicer clothes to wear. Kid tested, mother not approved. Sorry, mom, you’re definitely going to see this look again.

Saturday night: Vadim and I went out to dinner with our friends. I only had a few minutes to get dressed and get out the door so I went with this very simple, repeat outfit from my previous OOTD post. Clearly, I am a fan of this look. I will definitely be repeating this outfit again.

Sunday night: We went out to dinner to celebrate my father-in-law’s birthday. I tried my best to look festive while still dressing for the weather (temperature was in the low 30’s). I decided to go bright with my Wildfox sweater from last year and my Loeffler Randall boots, naturally. I guess I was feeling a bit rebellious against the cold since I went with my cropped jeans. I’m not going to lie, winter won, yet again. Apparently, that little sliver of uncovered ankle was just enough to send all the cold air up. Will I wear this look again? 100%.
