Inspiring me this week: Neutrals, affordable luxuries, and 90’s nostalgia

I am so excited that this is the last week of January. This means winter is practically over, right? I wish.
I know February will zoom past us, but then March will come and the aching for warming weather will begin. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s get through Monday first.

A personal update: I am still going through this weird allergic reaction on my eyelids (they’re really dry and irritated) and I haven’t been able to try out any new products that I’ve been meaning to review. I also realized I spent the entire month of January without putting on any makeup and I actually miss it! Hopefully things are back to normal soon so I can do proper reviews of beauty things I’ve been collecting.

Anyway, the show must go on.

Inspiring me this week

I stumbled upon this photo this weekend and it just made me 1) reminisce about Audrey Hepburn’s style in Breakfast at Tiffany’s and 2) made me want to wear just neutral tones. If you ever watched the film then you will see that Holly (Audrey’s character) wore neutral and simple pieces when she wasn’t partying the night away.

Then I started googling to look for this scene (below) when she declares her love for New York.

Beige never looked so chic, or pigtails for that matter.

If I owned every outfit in that movie, I would never want or need to shop again.

Affordable luxuries

My friend, Luxe wrote this awesome post last week: 22 Ways to Live Luxuriously on a Budget. It’s definitely worth the read and a good reminder that “luxury” can be felt and experienced in everyday things. Some of my favorite ways to live luxuriously: cozy bed sheets, a pastry or two with a hot cup of coffee, and a having to day where I have nothing on my to-do list. What about you?

90’s Nostalgia

Maybe, it’s the latest Gap commercial, Bruno Mar’s (feat. Cardi B) Finesse music video, or the nostalgic instagram accounts (@idontlikethisgeneration and @velvetcoke) I’ve been scrolling through this weekend, but I really miss the colorful stripes, denim overalls, and oversized everything days of the 90’s. I would definitely wear everything I wore in the 90’s now. Give me a pair of overalls and a colorful striped tee to go with it and I’m all set.

Are you as nostalgic about the 90’s as I am? What color mood are you feeling lately? And, last but not least, what are your favorite budget friendly luxuries?

Thanks for stopping by. See you in my next post!

  • I hope your eyes are feeling better! My face problem finally started going away. I was starting to get worried, but the medicine seems to have kicked in!

Audrey just looks too perfect in that movie. I never noticed before that when she’s sitting by the window she’s wearing a simple gray sweatshirt. I need to have it! And that mock neck cropped top with the pigtails is so chic.

I’m checking out that sweatshirt in the top row, middle column now, hehe. I’ve been looking for a simple, cropped sweatshirt and I don’t know why it’s so hard to find!

Those are some great Insta finds and I’m gonna start following them right away! And yesssss, I have so much nostalgia for the 90s. I need a striped 90s ski sweater stat!

So much eye candy in this post.

Thanks for including my link, as always 🙂

    • Thanks! My eyes are getting there but I thought that it was this weekend and then it started swelling up again so fingers crossed this annoying saga ends. So glad the medicine kicked in. So funny how you got hit with a mysterious reaction too!

I know, looking at that picture of Audrey in her gray sweatshirt made me realize why I am so obsessed with them and am always looking for the perfect one.

I don’t know why cropped sweatshirts are so hard to find either! You might just have to take matters into your hands with a pair of scissors.

All I want is the adult size of all my sweater from the 90s.

I don’t even remember how I found those accounts-guess it was fate!

No problem! It was too good of a post to not share 🙂
