Last week my Beautylish order arrived and I finally got my hands on four of The Ordinary products:
A week later, I am happily going makeup free for the first time in a month.
If you read my post from last week then you know that my skin was red and irritated:
A week later, my skin has calmed down, the bumps have mellowed out, and I feel like I can forgo any kind of makeup because the uneven pigmentation is not a big deal for me.
I really do believe The Ordinary products have helped. Let me breakdown my first impression of each product.
1. Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
I use this day and night as a serum after washing my face. I’m not sure if this is supposed to happen but it lathers up when you apply it on the skin. But once you work the product in, it all absorbs.
-No distinctive smell
-Seems to have calmed my skin down
-New breakouts seem to go away quicker than usual
2. Salicylic Acid 2% Solution
I apply this on to my acne-prone areas and current breakouts. It also lathers like the Niacinamide and Zinc serum, and will absorb into the skin.
-No distinctive smell
-Feels like a serum
-This may also be responsible for breakouts healing quicker than usual
3. AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
I’ve used this twice so far. (Recommended to not use more than 2x/week)
-Makes my face look like I put beet juice all over it
-Minimal stinging *Edit on July 20, 2017: Can definitely sting if you apply a thick layer*
-Face feels soft after
I will continue to use this to exfoliate my skin and hopefully it will even out my pigmentation from breakouts.
And last but not least…
4. Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution
This comes with a cap that feels impossible to remove. You may need a wrench and/or a super strong person to maneuver it.
I use this at night as recommended. I apply this with a cotton pad after washing my face.
-Seems to get remaining gunk/oil out of your face that didn’t wash off
-Skin feels soft after
I am excited to continue to use this and see if it helps with uneven pigmentation and texture in my skin.
Everything is under $10 and seems to be effective even in a short amount of time. There are a lot of other products in this range, but these are the ones that made the most sense based on my needs at the moment. I definitely believe that they live up to the social media attention they’ve been getting. I will definitely be bringing them with me to Spain.
If you’ve tried any of these products or other ones in the range, let me know what you think.
That’s all for now. Thanks for stopping by.
